SELECTING JAVELINS:
• Rubber or metal tip (Check State rules)
• 600G Women’s or 800G men’s
• Consider the athlete. Skilled throwers will be using a sti er ex
because of their more perfected techniques. Beginner throwers will want to use a softer ex which will be a more forgiving javelin. As the thrower advances in technique, move up in sti ness for longer ights and consider headwind versus tailwind javelins.

HEADWIND vs. TAILWIND:
Headwind: A streamlined tip to help cut through the wind with a small surface area. This is a more self-correcting characteristic for a beginner thrower or a more “Power” thrower that substitutes technique for strength and torque.
Tailwind: Thicker and more blunted tip. Allowing for a oating throw that will result in a greater distance. Designed for throwers with less power but more technique and accuracy.
